7. Wildlife. Shiretoko National Park has a unique marine environment due to the effects of the drift ice. It's rare for drift ice to come this far south and its a good place to see Steller's Sea Eagles. On land the primal forests, volcano ranges and volcanic lakes of the park are home to the Ussuri brown bear, foxes and deer.

It's a short 20-minute walk from the Shiretoko National Park Nature Center to the observation deck overlooking Furepe Falls, a waterfall known as the "Maiden's Tears" that cascades 60 meters down the sheer cliff face into the Sea of Okhotsk below. However, to get a full view of this waterfall, you'll need to be on the water.
